Autumn colors abound on and alongside the tracks of the Crispendorf Holiday Country Railway. On German
Unity Day and next Sunday, the colorful trains will once again make their rounds along the Wisenta meadows near Crispendorf.
Between 1 p.m. and 5 p.m., the trains depart from Festwiese station at approximately 20-minute intervals.
A relaxing ride along the 2.1-kilometer-long route allows you to discover the beauty of autumn.
The café on the platform offers small snacks, ice cream, cakes, and hot and cold drinks.
Almost 5,000 young and old guests have boarded the carriages during this year's season, which are pulled by the two
battery-powered locomotives "Crispi" and "Maja". From Easter to the end of October, the trains run on specific days and by appointment.
The Crispendorf Holiday Railway Association operates and maintains the tracks and rolling stock to preserve this charming gem for locals
and tourists. Many volunteer hours are spent performing all the tasks just like on a large railway, as the law makes no distinction
between small and large trains. Helping hands are always needed! In addition to train drivers, whom the association trains itself,
there are many other interesting activities that are part of running a railway.
The holiday railway runs along the Wisenta and intersects the Saale-Wisenta-Plothengrund circular hiking trail.
The holiday railway is a good starting point for a short walk. From the ridge, you can look down to the Saale River, and the Wisenta Dam is within sight.
